  • ABC's & Ice Pop Heists: Chapter 2

*insert deep TV voice* Previously in ABC's & Ice Pop Heists......hehe ......While Evie and Ryder were busy with their friendship bracelets, Katie and Tag were busy coloring their pictures. Mommy Black got up to get Tag some more juice, and Katie thought it was the perfect time to sneak away and go get her paci back. She quietly crawled around the corner where all the littles’ cribs were, but stopped quickly when she saw slipper-covered feet. Busted! “Whatcha doin little one?” asked Mommy Black. “You’re supposed to be coloring with Tag” she said. “Wan paci Mommy” said Katie as she pointed to her crib. “You can have paci back when it’s naptime,” Mommy replied. “C’mon back here,” she said as she walked back to Tag. Katie really didn’t want to go back. She just wanted her paci and these mommies were being super unfair with all these rules. No pacis, no hitting – well, the no hitting rule she understood, but the paci rule was stupid. Before she could tell Mommy Black no, she saw mommy raise her eyebrow. It’s never a good sign when mommies raise their eyebrows. Not wanting to go to the corner she headed back over to color. “Whats yous fav’ite movie Katie?” asked Tag, “Iz wikes Toy Stowy.” “I wike Lilo an Stitch an Fwozen. Owaf is my fav’ite,” she replied, “What you fav’ite movie Mommy?” Mommy Black thought really hard. She liked a lot of movies and picking just one was difficult. “I don’t know what one’s my favorite, but I like all those movies. Maybe we can watch one after nap time. What’re you drawing Tag?” she asked. “Iz dwawing Woody an Buzz Wightyear an da swinky dog pwaying in Andy’s woom,” Tag said. “You’re doing so good Tag. That looks amazing!,” said Mommy Black, “What about you Katie? What’re you drawing?” Katie looked at her drawing and giggled. “I drawed da bald guy in Lilo an Stitch. Hims got hit by a huge wave on da beach and hims dwopped hims ice cream on da ground,” she replied. Tag and Mommy Black couldn’t hold back their laughs. “That’s so silly!” said Tag. “That was a very funny part of the movie huh? I love it!,” said Mommy Black. When the littles were finished making their friendship bracelets and coloring their pictures, they were all very very hungry and ready for lunch. Mama Buttercup took all the littles to wash their hands while Mommy Boo and Mommy Black got their lunches ready. Today the littles were having dinosaur chicken nuggets, tater tots, applesauce, and carrots with ranch. Once their hands were clean, the littles ran back out to the kitchen, rumbling tummies and all. Mommy Boo and Mommy Black helped everybody into their seats and made sure each little had a bib. Littles can get very messy and some of them were still mastering how to use a spoon. The mommies hoped that once everyone had full tummies, they’d be super sleepy and go down for an early nap. “Dis weally yummy,” said Katie. “Dino nuggies are my fav’ite,” said Tag. “Mmhmm me too,” said Evie. They all ate every part of their lunch except the carrots. Babies and toddlers don’t like to eat vegetables. It’s like an unwritten rule - everybody knows that. Mommy Boo noticed this and said “Alright my loves, everybody needs to eat 3 bites of carrots and then it’s time to take a nap.” They all shook their heads no - carrots were yucky. “If you don’t finish your lunches you’ll be too tired to play later. And the littles that don’t eat their carrots won’t get an ice pop after a nap,” said Mama Buttercup. Ice-y pops changed everything. Everybody quickly ate their 3 bites of carrots and couldn’t wait to get their ice pops, even if they had to nap first. Once everybody’s faces were cleaned, Mommy Boo filled everybody’s bottles and sippy cups with warm milk while Mama Buttercup picked out a story for naptime. Mommy Black changed their diapers, blew raspberries on their tummies, and tucked them in with their blankies and pacis. Katie and Evie were so excited to get their pacis back and by the time they got their milk, the littles were almost asleep. Mama Buttercup only got half way through her story and everybody was out cold. The mommies quietly turned off the lights, left the room, and waited for their little ones to wake up. A few hours later, Tag, Katie, and Evie started to stir. Ryder was still sound asleep and the other three tried to climb out of their cribs. Mommy Boo was watching the monitor and quickly came into the room to get them. “Hello my littles loves,” she whispered, “Did you have a good nap?” “Uh huh,” said Tag as he rubbed the sleep from his eye. Mommy Boo helped him out of his bed and sent him to go play. Next she helped Evie out of her crib. She wasn’t sure about leaving her paci again, but Mommy Boo said she had to leave it there, so, with a slight pout, she listened and went to go find Tag. Next, Mommy Boo helped Katie out of her crib. “Ryder seepin,” she said pointing to the slumbering little. “Yeah he is,” said Mommy Boo, “so we have to be really quiet so we don’t wake him up.” Katie also thought about trying to fight to keep paci, but she knew Mommy Boo wouldn’t let her. Back out in the living room, Tag, Evie, and Katie were trying to figure out what to play now that they had their naps. They had to be quiet because Ryder was still sleeping and they had to wait for him to wake up before the mommies would hand out the ice pops. Giving littles sugar and telling them to be quiet never ended well. “What we gonna play?” asked Tag. “I no no,” Evie shrugged. "We can plays cat an mouse," she suggested. “But Mommy Boo says we’s gots ta be quiet cuz Ryder still sweepin’,” said Katie. “Yous wants ta build a blankey fort? Or maybe pway ousside?” Evie asked her friends. “How bou bof?” said Katie, “We build a bankey fort ousside?” “Heck yes!!” said Tag, “but we gots ta ask da mommies first.” After getting permission from the mommies to go outside, the little ones quickly went in search of blankey fort-making supplies. Tag grabbed the stuffies, Evie grabbed the blankies, Katie grabbed some pillows, and they headed to a nice shady spot under a tall tree. “These blankies are soooo heavy,” Evie said, so Katie and Tag ran over to help their friend. “We gonna make a super big fort,” said Katie. “Wif two stowies,” yelled Tag. The three friends quickly finished building the first floor of the fort. After all, little ones are experts at building blankey forts. “How we gonna get to the second stowy?” asked Katie. Tag turned, pointed, and said “Look! Evie gotted chairs we can use.” “Yeah!” said Evie. “We can stack dem and build it high wike da buildings in da city.” “Das weally tall,” said Tag. These littles all got back to work making their fort as tall as can be. Maybe even tall enough to touch the clouds. The downstairs part of the fort was the nursery and the upstairs part was the playroom. To get there, you had to climb up a bunch of chairs. These clever little ones called it the “chair-case.” There were lots of toys, books, and even a few giant pillows the littles could lay on together. Getting back down was the funnest part. You had to go down a big twisty slide into a ball pit full of colorful balls. Evie, Tag, and Katie all took turns running up the chair- case and sliding down the slide until they were too tired to climb the chairs again. The little friends went outside and admired the awesome fort they had built. “Iz hungry,” said Evie as her tummy rumbled. “We’s needs snacks. How bou mowe aminaw cwakers?!” said Tag. “An squeezable applesauce. Doze is my favorite,” said Evie. “Ooohh we need juice an ice-y pops too,” said Katie,“Is so hot my fweckles is melting.” The littles ran inside and went straight to the kitchen to fetch some snacks, but they were too little to reach the freezer where the ice-y pops lived and all the chairs were in their fort. “How we gonna get the ice-y pops?” asked Evie. “We can push the colowing table over hewe and climb up,” said Tag. So they did. They carefully set their crayons and pictures on the couch and pushed the table in front of the fridge. Evie climed on the table and handed the ice pops to her friends below. “Iz wans a red one,” said Tag. “Iz wikes blue ones,” said Katie. “Wha colwer you wikes Evie?” asked Tag. "I wans da orange one," Evie replied. “Shhh. Wats dat noise!!” said Katie, hearing footsteps. “Uh oh,” said Tag, “Mommy’s coming.” “Quick!! We gossa push the table back afore Mommy comes,” said Evie. She grabbed a couple extra ice pops, climbed down, and the three little ones quickly put everything back how they found it. The mommies would never know it got moved! They grabbed their bottles and sippy cups, and sprinted back into their fort before any mommy saw them. Inside the fort… “Can yous open dis for me pweese?” asked Tag. They all tried to open the ice-y pop, but it was too hard. Of course Mommy bought the little-proof ones. “We gossa ask Mommy for the scissors,” said Katie with a sigh. “I no fink Mommy gonna give dem to us. We too little,” said Evie. The three builder babies got their ice-y pops, but didn’t know how to open them. After a couple minutes, Katie said “maybe if we’s asks weally nice mommy open dem for us.” “I’s hopes so. Mines is melting,” said Tag. “But we didin ask Mommy afore we gots dem. We’s needs anoder pwan,” said Evie. “Dere was scissors on da cwaft table inside where we made the fwendship bwacelets,” said Tag. “We gossa go back and get da scissors. I wan my ice-y pop,” said Evie. So, Tag, Katie, and Evie made their way back into the house in search for the scissors. They have to tiptoe through the house so the mommies don’t hear them. Katie grabbed the scissors and said to her friends “I got dem. Let’s go!” All of a sudden, they hear a noise: a crinkley noise. They look over and see Ryder crawling towards them and rubbing his eyes. Poor baby woke up from his nap and can’t find mommy. He sees the scissors and guilty looks on his friends’ face and knows they’re up to some shenanigans. They’re eating ice-y pops! And he wants one too! Before he could blow their cover, Tag says to Ryder “If yous no tells Mommy, we gives you an ice-y pop.” “Whatever color yous wants,” says Evie. After a couple seconds, Ryder nods. Ice-y pops were SUPER amaze-balls and littles have to stick together. He sees the orange one that Evie has and reaches for it. “No Ryder dis my ice-y pop,” says Evie. Ryder starts whining and keeps reaching for Evie's snack. He almost has it when she turns away and yells “No!” That made Ryder really mad, so he grabbed one of Evie's braids and pulled really hard. “Owie!!” Evie shouted. Tag and Katie both said “Ryder that’s not nice” and even wagged their finger like the mommies always do. “hehe Jinx.” Evie was mad at Ryder for being mean, so she hit his arm and pushed him away. He started crying really loud and crawled away in search of mommy. The other three know it won’t be long until one of the Mommies comes and figures out what happened. They hear the mommies ask Ryder what happened and why he’s so sad. Tag, Katie, and Evie knew the mommies would be coming to find them next. Footsteps. “Uh oh. Mommy’s coming!” said Evie. “Quick we’s gots ta run,” said Tag. Evie, Tag, and Katie hurry back to their fort. Evie's in front, Tag second, and Katie in the back going slower than her friends because Mommy said never to run with scissors. They’re running as fast as their little legs can go when Tag trips on a rock and falls down. “Owie,” said Tag holding his knee. “Tag you otay?” asked Katie. “Don’t cwy Tag. I kiss is bettew,” said Evie. “Iz otay,” said Tag, “I jus scraped my knee.” “You bwave Tag. Dat looked wike it hurted,” said Katie. “It did,” Tag replied, “but kisses made it aww bettew. Fanks Evie!” “Yous wewcome Tag. Hurry we almost back to the fort,” Evie replied. All three friends were super tired and sweaty when they finally made it back to their fort. They quickly opened and enjoyed their ice-y pops. They were so delicious and the three littles lost count how many they had – it was more than 6, but they couldn’t count higher than that. “We was wike ninjas” said Tag. “Da bestest ninjas,” said Evie as she rubbed her head. “You head hurt Evie?” asked Katie. “Not no more, but he pull weally hard,” she replied. “Maybe hims diaper made him cwanky,” said Tag with a shrug. “Hey there’s still one ice-y pop weft,” said Katie. “Dat one was for Ryder but hims hurt Evie so he no gets it no more” said Tag. “Nuh huh. Hims was mean, but we can shawe it,” said Evie. And they did. With their bellies full and their little bodies exhausted from fort building, ice-y pop heists, and shenanigans, the three friends cuddled upstairs on one of the giant pillows and drifted off to sleep. They were almost asleep when they heard Mama Buttercup ask, “Mommy Boo, do you know where the scissors are?” Their eyes flew open in panic. “What we gonna do?” asked Evie. “Dey gonna knows we taked dem,” said Tag. “We’s can tells dem da cwaft fairy taked dem,” said Katie. “Are dey gonna beweive dat?” asked Tag, very skeptical of the idea. “I fink so!!” said Evie, “she’s da sisser to da toof fairy. Da toof fairy takes teeth and da cwaft fairy takes scissors.” “Ooohh das a good one. No way we get in twouble,” said Tag. It’s official. His new friends were brilliant! “We gots ta hide the scissors though,” said Evie, “juss in case.” The littles scurried through their fort looking for good places to hide the scissors. They found a spot just in time to hear Mommy Black call out, “Tag, Katie, Evie, do either of you have the scissors?” “No Mommy!,” Evie replied. Katie and Tag poked their heads out the fort and said “Yeah we’s bein good. We’s pwayin piwate ship.” They all made sure to give Mommy Black the sweetest smiles they could. After all every little knows that the cuter you are, the easier it is to convince Mommy that you aren’t ‘up to no good.’ And at first Mommy Black was convinced they were telling the truth, and she was proud of her littles for playing nicely together and being so sweet. Too sweet she thought, and that made her suspicious. Chapter 3 Coming Soon!!

  • Science Boonies: Sea Monster & Underwater Habitat

COLORING PAGE!!! Did You Know? Did you know, the objects around us don't actually have any colors! That's right little one, oranges aren't actually orange! Our brain and our eyes work together to figure out what color something is. Every surface reflects light. Our brain balls work with our eyes to figure out what 'colors' (spectrum of light) are being reflected and which are being absorbed by the surface. Let's take a banana as an example, the reason we see the banana as yellow is that the surface of the banana is actually absorbing every color except for yellow! Isn't that cool!? Warning: This next part gets a lil' advanced: Our eyes have about a bazillion (it's actually more like millions but that doesn't sound as cool) different receptor cells called cones and rods. When your eyes see a color it sets off a different amount of color in each one of your cones (you have 3, one for red, one for green, and one for blue - that's where the term RGB comes from) and your brain then processes the various cone values and interprets the color!! Materials: Paper towels Water Food coloring Cups (shot glasses are ideal) Whatever you want to make your underwater scene (LEGO, cardboard, pom poms, pipe cleaners, glue, etc.) Instructions: Step one - take your glasses and fill them with water Step two - add 1-3 drops of food coloring to each glass (make sure to try mixing different colors to see what will happen!) Step three - fold your paper towel in half (lengthwise), twice Step four - fold your paper towel into a snake shape and place each bump in a different glass and watch it absorb all of the colors! Step five - wait a couple of minutes then take your sea monster out of the glasses Step six - empty your glasses then put the sea monster back in so it keeps it shape while it dries Step seven - while you wait for your sea monster to dry, make it a house/sea monster exhibit! Maybe your sea monster wants some friends, a nice table to eat at, or some coral! Your imagination is the limit here, babies! Big Boon Brain Explanation: Little ones, I have some bad news, there isn't much to explain for this experiment but I do have a cool physics fact! Have you ever heard of a 'chain fountain'? If you haven't, here's one in action (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dQJBBklpQQ). There is some pretty cool physics happening here and although we aren't making one of these today, it reminded me of our experiment since (if you squint and try and try really hard to imagine it) the chain kinda looks like a sea monster diving into the water! So you may be wondering 'what in the heck is happening here?' and I hear ya, it's confusing. Scientists are actually still debating on what causes the chain fountain! Originally, it was thought that chains' behavior was due to 'interia'. Interia is a fancy word for an object's tendency to continue to do the same thing unless an external force acts on it. If you read the Big Boon Brain section from last week, you'll know about Newton's famous quote. This is actually another one of Newton's famous quotes (also known as Newton's Laws). He said, "An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force". I won't go into the proof of why this phenomenon is not caused by interia since this isn't nap-time :P. Right now, all we know is that the height the chain climbs to is proportional to the distance it falls and that the upwards climbing is due to some reaction force on the chain itself. We don't know exactly how the reaction force works but that's fine because now you're one fact smarter, babies! Have fun, fishes! Check out the rest of Summer Camp 2022!

  • Day 8: Ocean Life Habitats

Today we’ll be looking at Ocean Life Habitats. Because we can’t all get to the sea, we’ve found a great website made by the Haphazard Traveler called Virtual Field Trips: Aquarium Live Feeds, Coral Reefs and Sea Life Webcams. If you can’t find a feed that you like there, visit Explore.org's special page on Ocean webcams. Your activity for today is to find a web feed that you like and watch it for a bit. Find at least one component about the habitat that interests you and tell us about it! Include a picture and the link where you find it, as well. When you've completed your task, upload your sheet to your social media and hashtag #CampBooHabitat. Have fun, sweethearts!! xoxo!

  • ABC's & Ice Pop Heists: Chapter 1

It’s a bright, beautiful, sunny Monday morning, and the Mommies of the Little Baby Boo Nursery are busy getting ready for a new week of Littles Camp. Mommy Boo was putting on her littles’ most favorite cartoon, Paw Patrol, for them to watch while they waited for all their friends. Mama Buttercup was in the kitchen preparing bottles, sippy cups, and morning snacks for the littles to eat with their morning cartoons while Mommy Black gathered all the diapees they’ll need to keep these littles smelling fresh and clean all day long. “It looks like we are going to have two new little ones joining us today,” said Mama Buttercup. “Yay! New friends!” cheered Mommy Boo and Mommy Black. “Our first new little one is Evie and she’s 2 years old. She has a lot of energy but can be a little bit shy at first and her most favorite snack is mango juice with squeezable applesauce,” said Mama Buttercup. “Katie is our next new little. She’s almost 2 and also very shy, but they both love hugs and cuddles!” she continued. “Aww, it looks like we have some shy littles joining us today,” said Mommy Boo. “I’m sure they’ll make fast friends with Tag and Ryder and have a great day at camp,” said Mama Buttercup. * Ding Dong * Mama Buttercup answered the door and was greeted with a HUGE hug from Tag! He always has lots of fun at the camp, gets lots of cuddles, and can’t wait to come back the next morning. “Mommy iz misseded yous! I not seen yous in fowever!” said Tag, even though he was at camp last week. Like most littles, he loved doing crafts, building blankey forts, and getting lots of hugs from the mommies. Mommy Boo got his snack and sippy from the kitchen while he and his paw patrol stuffie got comfy on the couch. The mommies didn’t have to wait very long until the doorbell rang again. Which little is it gonna be? It’s......Evie!! “Good morning little one, what’s your name?” cooed Mommy Boo. “I Evie,” Evie replied around her Nemo paci. She was very nervous about her first day of camp. The mommies seemed really nice but it’s all very new, and new stuff is scary, especially new vegetables – yuck!. “Well that’s a very pretty name sweetheart. I’m Mommy Boo, this is Mama Buttercup, and this is Mommy Black. We’re so excited you’re here today. We have lots of toys and snacks, and we’re going to have such a fun day together,” said Mommy Boo, introducing all the mommies. “Now I know first days can be a little scary, but we have a rule at camp where you only have paci for nap time cuz we don't want it to get lost or get all dirty.” Evie was 100% not okay with this rule and there was no way she’s letting any mommy take her paci no matter how nice they are. “Can you give Mommy Boo your paci sweet pea?” asked Mommy Boo. Evie shook her head no and covered her paci with her hand so Mommy Boo couldn’t take it out. Mommy Boo wrapped her arms around Evie, gave her a big hug, and looked over at Mommy Black. After all, trying to take a paci from a little is dangerous territory. Softly, Mommy Black said to her, “We can’t go play and watch Paw Patrol until we put your paci and blankie in your crib for nap.” Evie narrowed her eyes at Mommy Black and thought, how dare this mommy lady make her choose between her two greatest loves. She thought for a second...Paci or Paw Patrol? She really wants to keep her paci, especially because her paci gets lonely without her. But, these mommies aren’t budging on their paci rule and Mommy Boo said she’ll get it back for nap. Plus she’s missing Paw Patrol! Reluctantly, she took her paci out and gave it to Mommy Boo. “Great job Evie! Mommy Boo is so proud of you for being so brave!” she cheered. “Should we get you a snack and watch some cartoons while we wait for some more friends to arrive?” asked Mama Buttercup as she held out her hand. I hope these new friends are nice, she thought, taking Mama Buttercup's hand. “C’mon honey,” she said. Mama Buttercup led her over to the couch where Tag was enjoying an episode of Paw Patrol, one of Evie's favorite cartoons. “Evie, this is Tag. Tag, this is miss Evie and it’s her first day here today,” said Mama Buttercup. “Hi Evie,” waved Tag, “Yous wans watch Paw Patwol wif me?” he asked. Evie nodded and climbed up on the couch with her stuffed dinosaur, Boon. “Who you stuffie Evie?” asked Tag. “Dis Boon. Who yous stuffie name?” Evie replied. “Dis Chase. He my fav’ite Paw Patwol chawacter. Hims on TV and hims and hims fwends hewps people dat need it,” Tag said. “Yous wikes paw patwol?,” he asked. Evie nodded excitedly and said “Is my favwite.” Tag loved hearing that. The more littles that liked Paw Patrol, the better! “Yous be my fwend?” Tag asked. “Yeas!” Evie replied “I be you fwend.” Maybe camp won’t be so scary. After all, she’s been here only a couple minutes and already made a friend!! Mama Buttercup came back with Evie's bottle full of juice and a squeezable applesauce pouch. “Fank you Mama Buttercup,” Evie said. “You’re very welcome little one,” Mama replied. “Mama me an Evie is fwends now!!” Tag said excitedly. “That’s very awesome!! I’m glad you both made a new friend today!” said Mama Buttercup. The two new friends went back to watching their cartoons while they waited for the rest of the littles to show up. The next one to arrive at camp was Ryder! Like Tag, he loves coming to camp. There’s so many toys to play with and the mommies always read the best stories before naptime. Plus, he had a secret candy stash in the toy box. Mommy Black brought him over to the couch to join Evie and Tag, and said “Evie this is Ryder. Ryder can you say hi to Evie? She’s one of our new friends joining us today.” Ryder gave a small wave and hid behind Mommy Black. He’s a little shy around new littles, but once he got his sippy cup and snack, all three littles were cheering on Chase and his paw patrol pals. Once that episode was over, Evie, Tag, and Ryder all quickly asked Mommy Boo to put on another episode. They really loved this show. * Ding Dong * Mommy Boo answered the door and welcomed Katie to littles camp. “Hi there little one. What’s your name?” she asked. “I Katie,” Katie replied shyly around her paci. “It’s so good to meet you little one. I’m Mommy Boo and this is Mommy Black, and Mama Buttercup. I know your first day can be a little scary, but I promise we’re gonna have so much fun together,” said Mommy Boo. “Should we go get a snack and some juice and join our friends on the couch?” she asked as she held out her hand. Katie held her blankey and stuffed elephant close, shook her head, and backed away. She had never been at camp before and was really nervous about meeting new friends. The mommies saw how nervous she was, but they knew just what to do. “Can mommy give you a hug little one?” asked Mommy Black. Katie nodded - she loved hugs. She immediately felt safe and not long after, she felt a little better about trying camp. “Are you ready to meet the other littles and have a snack?” asked Mama Buttercup. She was still scared, but took her hand. The mommies knew they couldn’t tackle the paci just yet. Soon, but not now. Entering the living room, Katie saw three other littles watching Paw Patrol. “Little ones, this is Katie. Katie this is Tag, and Ryder, and Evie.” The littles all waved as Mama Buttercup said their names. “It’s Katie's first day at camp today too, and she’s a little nervous,” Mama Buttercup continued. “Yous can sit next ta me an Tag,” Evie said, “Is my first day too and Iz was weally nervous, but me an Tag iz fwends now and we watch paw patwol togedder.” “Yeah,” said Tag, “me and Evie is fwends, and Ryder too. Whos yous stuffie? Yous wike Paw Patrol?” he continued. “Dis Beau,” Katie replied, “I wuvs Paw Patwol and I wikes Bluey too.” “I wove Bluey!” said Evie, “I fink we’s all gonna be weally good fwends.” Katie gave a little smile when Tag and Ryder both agreed. Mama Buttercup came back with a bottle of juice and some animal crackers for Katie and let the little ones finish their morning cartoons. Even after the second episode of Paw Patrol ended, the littles wanted more. They would watch all day if the mommies let them. “Pweese can wes juss watch one more paw patwol? Is all ours most favoritest show in da whowe wide world!” whined Ryder, waving his arms so the mommies knew how much the littles loved it. Tag, Katie, and Evie both agreed and begged the mommies for just one more episode. Unfortunately, saying please was not helping them get their way this time. “You all can watch more Paw Patrol later. We have some new friends with us now, so we need to go over our rules,” said Mommy Black earning groans and whines from all the littles. They didn’t like rules. Camp was supposed to be full of sunshine, rainbows, and fun, not rules. “Number 1,” said Mommy Boo, “is to be kind to one another. That means no name-calling, no naughty words, no hitting, no pushing, and to share when you need to share.” “Number 2,” said Mama Buttercup as she held up two fingers, “is to pick up the toys when you’re done playing. We don’t want any little ones, or mommies stepping on a lego that was left out.” The littles were super okay with that rule. Legos were fun to build with, but stepping on one would give you a huge owie. “Number 3,” said Mommy Black, “is to ask permission before you go play outside, or get a snack.” Mommy Boo continued, “And it’s super super important you ask one of the mommies for help with scissors. We're gonna do lots and lots of crafts so if you see them, don’t touch them, and especially don’t ever run with them. They’re very sharp and we don’t want any of you getting hurt.” “Rule number 4,” said Mama Buttercup, “is to listen to the mommies. If Mommy tells you to do something, you need to listen and follow directions." “Our last rule, rule number 5” said Mommy Black as she held up five fingers, “is a very, very important rule and that is to always tell the truth. Lying is a big no no at camp and you’ll go straight to the corner. Does everyone understand these rules?” All the littles nodded their heads. None of them like the corner. “I’m so proud of all of you for sitting and listening to the rules,” Mommy Boo praised. They all smiled. “Which of my sweet littles are ready to make a craft?” she continued. Everybody raised their hand. “Today we are going to be making some super cool friendship bracelets!” said Mama Buttercup as the other two mommies cheered. “We’re gonna take turns making the bracelets, so two of you are gonna color with Mommy Black and two of you are gonna make a bracelet with me and Mommy Boo, and then we’ll switch.” Mama Buttercup and Mommy Boo led Katie and Tag over to the craft table to pick out colors for their bracelets while Mommy Black took Ryder and Evie over to color. Mama Buttercup turned to Tag. “What kind of friendship bracelet do you wanna make Tag? Can you pick out some colors?” she asked him. “Iz wans make a Paw patwol bwacelet for Ryder cuz hims wikes Paw patwol wike me. Ummm Iz needs white, a dawk bwue, a wight bwue, a yewwow, umm wed, an da owange sting pwease Mama,” Tag replied. Mama Buttercup started gathering his colors and showed him how to make the Naughty 4 bracelet – name courtesy of Mommy Black. Meanwhile, Mommy Boo turned to Katie and asked “what about you little one? What colors do you want for your bracelet?” “Iz makes a bwacewet fow Evie,” Katie said. “That’s so sweet of you! What colors do you think she’d like?” asked Mommy Boo. Katie thought really hard about what her new friend might like. She didn’t know what Evie's favorite colors were, but she remembered Evie telling her about her Nemo paci and wanted to make her a pretty bracelet to match it. “Umm owange pwease, an bwack, an white, an da wight blue,” Katie replied. “Those are awesome choices sweet pea,” said Mommy Boo, and she quickly got the strings ready for the bracelet. “Now little one before you start your bracelet, we have to do one more thing,” said Mommy Boo, “We don't want your paci to get dirty or lost, so we have to put your paci in your crib with blankie and Beau.” Katie shook her head no as fast as she possibly could. There was no way she was giving up her paci. Beau and blankie will be okay until nap, but paci had to stay with her. “I know it’s hard,” Mommy Boo said as she gave her a big hug, “your new friend Evie didn’t want to give hers up either, but I promise you’ll get paci back for nap. We’re gonna have some craft time, then some coloring time, lunch, and then a story for nap. You’ll get paci back before you know it.” Katie didn’t fully believe her, but she really wanted to make her new friend this bracelet, so she let Mommy Boo take her paci. It didn’t take long to forget how much she missed it and she couldn’t wait to give Evie the bracelet she made. Over at the coloring table, Evie and Ryder were busy coloring with Mommy Black. She was telling them about all the activities they have planned for camp and how much fun they're going to have. Evie thought it sounded like so much fun as long as they didn’t have to sleep on the ground with all the bugs. That doesn’t sound fun at all. “Ryder can Iz borrows da bwown cwayon pwease?” Evie asked. "No, iz needs it," he replied, shaking his head "You isn't even usin da bwown one. You colorin wif green," Evie told him. Ryder still refused. He didn’t want to share his crayons with anybody. What if he needed it for his picture? “Mommy, Ryder not sharin hims cwayons,” Evie pouted. “Ryder remember our rule about sharing?” asked Mommy Black, “we need to share with our friends and Evie will give it right back.” Ryder thought for a second. He really didn’t want to give up his crayon, but he believed Evie would give it back when she was done, so he handed it to her. “What’re you coloring little one?” asked Mommy Black. “Iz colowin summer camp. Wez sweepin in cabins cuz the gwound not comfy and dere’s lots of bugs. An dere’s a big fire to woast marshmewwows an teww scawy ghost stowies. An dere’s gonna be a big pwayground wif swings an a slide,” said Evie. “That sounds like an awesome summer camp,” said Mommy Black, “What’re you coloring there Ryder?” He held up his picture for Mommy Black to see. He drew himself playing and building sandcastles on the beach with all his stuffies. There was a big beach umbrella with a paw patrol towel, and an inflatable boat for the ocean. There was even a cooler full of bottles and snacks for when he got hungry. “Aww that looks like a super fun beach day. You two did an amazing job coloring,” said Mommy Black, “Are you ready to go make your friendship bracelets with Mommy Boo and Mama Buttercup?” “Yeah!,” they shouted, so Evie and Ryder cleaned up their crayons and hurried to pick out their bracelet colors. Before they went to color, Katie and Tag gave Evie and Ryder the friendship bracelets they made for them. “Iz no no what yous fav’ite colors is so iz made a bwacelet wike you paci,” Katie told Evie. “I wove it! I gonna make one fo you now!” Evie said before running over the Mommy Boo, even more excited to make her bracelet. Ryder was also very excited to make his bracelet now. Tag gave him one with all the paw patrol colors and asked Ryder to make him one just like it. As Mama Buttercup got Ryder's colors for his bracelet to give to Tag, Evie turned to Mommy Boo and said, “Mommy I don't wanna wait for nap...I wan my paci back now please.” As much as Evie loved her bracelet, it made her miss her Nemo paci. Mommy Boo gave her a big hug and held her close. “I know it’s hard little one. Your new friend Katie is missing hers too, but you’ll get it back very soon. I promise. We’re gonna make some awesome friendship bracelets, have some lunch, and then it’s nap time. You’re doin so good and Mommy Boo is so proud of you for being so brave. Do you know what colors you want for your bracelet?” Mommy Boo asked. “Katie maked me dis bwacelet. Dese cowors are da same ones as my paci!,” Evie told her. She wasn’t too sure what to do for her new friend. She wanted to make a bracelet with all her favorite colors, but she didn’t know what they were. She could do a Paw Patrol one, but Tag and Ryder already did those and she wanted to do something different. Katie also liked Bluey, so she picked out all Bluey colors. “Mommy Boo can Iz has da dawk bwue, da white, teaw, and dat oder bwue pwease?” Evie asked. “Of course little one. Those were such good manners,” Mommy Boo replied. Evie smiled really big. Littles camp is awesome. While Evie and Ryder were busy with their friendship bracelets, Katie and Tag were busy coloring their pictures. When Mommy Black got up to get Tag some more juice, Katie thought it would be the perfect time to sneak away and go get her paci back. Part 2 Coming Soon!!

  • Ash's Art: Life in a Jar Ecosystem Pt. 1

ABDL Summer Camp Day 5 - 🦠 Ash’s Art: Life in a Jar Ecosystem, Pt. 1 - #CampBooJar This activity is a science experiment about life and how life grows on Earth. We'll start the project today and check-in again at the end of Summer Camp! Supplies needed: 🐌 jar 🐌 water (either from a fish tank or an outdoor source or tank water, you can dig up some dirt and old plants put it in the jar at the bottom, and put water over it/ if you are using tap water make sure you put some type of plant or leaf in). Don't fill all the way up, leave some space. 🐌 decor (maybe a tiny toy or rocks or sea shells). This is what the jar may look like when it's done. After that you can leave it somewhere and forget about it so it can grow. I recommend a really hot and sunny place or a really dark and cold place to grow. We will revisit them at the last week to see how they have done. »-(¯`·.·´¯)-> Ash <-(¯`·.·´¯)-«

  • Science Boonies: Lil' Silver Submarines

COLORING PAGE!!! Did You Know? Did you know that submarines use something called "sonar" to help drive it? If you think about it, since submarines are in the water, you can't see things that are far away very well. So they use sonar to figure out what path they need to take. Sonar is just a fancy word for sound waves. When we talk (out loud) we emit 'sound waves'. We can't see them but trust me, babies, they're there! These sound waves hit the objects around them and then bounce back (kind of like a boomerang). We can use science and math to calculate how far those objects are based off how long it takes for the sound waves to come back to us! With that, the submarine can tell us how far away obstacles are so we don't accidentally smoosh them. Sonar helps keep us and the fish safe! Today, we're going to make our own submarine and figure out what things we have around the house that will sink or float! The first thing you need to do is read through this whole experiment! It's important that you read through it all and make sure you understand so you don't get lost in the sauce (confused)! Worksheet: Materials: Tinfoil 5 - 10 small objects you want to test A basin or bathtub A large cup Table salt Water Coins Instructions: Step One - get your tinfoil and try to form it into the shape of a ship. Remember babies, the larger the flat part (the deck) is, the more stable the boat will be. If you make the walls super big, that can make the boat unstable so be careful! Step Two - put your boat in the water. Does it sink? Does it float? What do you think are some reasons the boat might sink? Now try adding coins (one at a time) to your boat until it sinks! How many coins did it hold? Step Three - get your testing objects and place them in the water, one by one. What sinks and what floats? Step Four - for the objects that sink, fill a cup up with water and put your sinking object in it. If you add a tablespoon of salt, does your object now float? Try this with all of your objects that sank. If they didn't float, try adding more salt! Eventually, they should float (unless they're super heavy or dense). Big Boon Brain Explanation: What in the world could the salt be doing to make the objects that used to sink, float?! When we add salt to the water, we increase the waters 'density'. Density is just a mathematical way of describing how much air is in something. If an object has a lot of air (like a sponge) we say it has a low density. If an object has very little air (like a rock), we say it has a high density. Now, babies, I hear you! You're confused 'if we increase the density of the water, how exactly does that help us make stuff float?' great question! Let's say I placed a pebble in the water and sank. The reason it sank was that the rock was more dense than the water. This should make sense - if you place a ping pong ball in the water it will float. Why? Because the inside is completely air. The reason floaties float is they're like 90% air! So if we increase the density of the water by adding salt, then there's a chance that the water will now be more dense than the object. The more salt we add the closer the object should be to floating! Here's a diagram to help explain - note: this is fancy middle stuff here but any curious littles can feel free to read it as well :)
